Shira Stone's Unique Experience
The ability to do sound healing came to me unexpectedly in 1984. I was giving a client massage therapy when sounds that were like Tibetan bowls poured out of my mouth. I had never heard of Tibetan bowls at that time, and was amazed by how powerful they were. As these sounds were coming out of my mouth, I saw myself in an ancient amphitheater, filled with others who were making the same sounds as I was. I was directing these sounds to a person lying in the center of our circle, as I directed the sounds to my friends’ throat.
In that moment, it was clear to me that working with vocal sound was my path. I asked many people to let me work with them so I could to find out what sound healing could do. I was awe struck by the power of sound to transform people’s emotional and physical state. I still am awe struck.
I bring to you all the years of experience I have had working with individuals and groups. One of my clients named me a “vocal intuitive”, as I am able to tune into the sounds that help my clients to heal and transform. I have worked with cancer patients, as well as those whose bodies are healthy.
I received my BA from Antioch West in San Francisco California, and my MA in psychology from The University of Humanistic Studies in San Diego California. I became licensed as a marriage and family therapist in 1992, and have worked with a wide variety of clients as a psychotherapist. I have been trained in Bioenergetics, as well as other somatic therapies. I have been a program manager at Rubicon Programs in Richmond, California, as well as a clinical supervisor at John F. Kennedy University in Oakland, California.
My spiritual path has always been very important to me. Because spirituality brings me such a sense of wholeness and peace, I am a licensed practitioner at a nondenominational, ecumenical church.
One of the most important gifts I bring to my clients is my own healing journey, as I used to be in a tremendous amount of emotional pain. I had a very serious problem with low self esteem. I was determined to heal from it. I deeply believe in the importance of therapeutic work, as doing so transformed my life. I needed others to help guide me through my stuck places, and know that everyone can benefit from this kind of help at some point in their life. I believe I am a safe and powerful anchor for my clients as I know from the inside that all negative beliefs about self are false. I know that each one of us is so beautiful, so amazingly magnificent and whole. I love helping others know just how much light they carry within them, so they radiate and shine. I would love to help you.
