"I was attracted to those who couldn't give me what I wanted, while I ran from the people that could. I was so afraid of getting hurt, and so scared that I wasn't lovable, that I would behave in ways that pushed the person I wanted away from me."

Relationships have always been very important to me.
After adolescence, I used to spend a tremendous amount of time and energy trying to recover from painful love experiences. I yearned for love but experienced one heartache after another. I blamed each person I became involved with but I blamed myself even more. I wondered what was wrong with me, that I wasn’t able to find the deep love I was looking for.

My quest for love brought me to counseling, for help. My commitment to the process eventually made it possible for me to enjoy a fulfilling and joyful relationship. I know from direct personal experience what it takes to go from pain and suffering in love to finding happiness. I am excited about being able to help others have successful and rewarding relationships. I personally feel there is nothing more important than sharing love. At the end of the day, whom we have loved and have been loved by is what matters more than anything else.

I received my BA from Antioch West and my MA in Clinical Psychology from The University for Humanistic Studies, and  became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 1992. I have an expertise in helping couples have healing communication, and have created a technique that allows people to communicate non-verbally for those times when words fail to bridge the gap. My many years of experience have honed my skills and expertise in helping my clients become happier and more fulfilled in their relationships. I have worked with people from varied cultures and races. Along with being in private practice since 1992, I have been a program manager at Rubicon Programs in Richmond, CA, and have been a clinical supervisor at John F. Kennedy University in Oakland, CA.
